Teaching and Public Service:

October 2016 to January, 2022: Volunteer Member of The Intercultural Advocacy Institute of Clearwater (Hispanic Outreach Center of Clearwater). Activities include weekly art classes and childcare with elementary and middle school aged children; organizing summer camp activities with HOC’s youth coordinator; leading English language courses for adult learners in the Clearwater community.

Summer 2021: “The Science of Art” – Eight week summer course developed for the Hispanic Outreach Center Summer Camp. Students aged 12-17 explored the intersections of art and science through a variety of art projects. These included sculpture techniques to make fossils, kinetic art mobiles, botanical and nature printmaking using gel plates, and planetary science modeling. The project was funded by a grant from the Juvenile Welfare Board and distributed by the Intercultural Advocacy Institute of Clearwater.

Summer 2019: “Printmaking in the Kitchen” – Course developed and taught in six sessions at the Clearwater Hispanic Outreach Center focused on basic printmaking techniques using inexpensive and everyday household materials. Students aged 12-17 learned about making simple collagraphs, relief plates, and various transfer processes using materials like foam plates, gelatin pads, packing tapes and water media. The project was made possible by generous donations from the Literacy Council of Upper Pinellas County.
September 28, 2018: Class Demonstration on “Abstract Painting” for King’s Point Art League, Sun City, Florida.
